Cyber-language is accompanied by the development of networks and the emerging of a plane which is different from the traditional forms of media and language. It is a concise and lively form of expression. It is preferred by cyber citizens and develops rapidly. Cyber-language, including emoticons and abbreviations, contains some specific meanings and vivid pictures. Cyber-language is originally used by cyber citizens In order to improve the efficiency of online chatting or a particular purpose. Then a specific language is formed as time goes. The new terms emerge on the network depends primarily on its own vitality, if the dynamic cyber-language can stand the test of time, we can accept it and practice it widely.
Emoticons, which are widely used in cyber-language are often expressed as a few punctuation marks combined to form a graphical representation of the expression, which is a kind of "hieroglyphics." As the web users were unable to see and perform feelings and emotions, they create a series of expressions and images by the colorful symbols to show their humor and imagination.

Cyber-language is a modern universal language, no matter which part of the world you’re from it has the same meaning; a good example of it are emoticons. Emoticons have changed the way we communicate; it did not just make it fun but also easier. We can easily express how we feel even without using groups of words. This is a creative way of demonstrating our facial expressions through text or through chat. Since we can all figure out what this =) or this =( means we could automatically get what the other person wants to tell us by using only few characters.

Once it was only teenagers who drove everyone crazy, as if they spoke a different kind of language, using words like, 'Cool, wicked, hip mad and rad'. Now, however, even the older generations have had to come to terms with new word meanings, as words create a sub culture of language. This has never been more obvious than in the ethereal world of the Internet and Cyber Space.A lot of symbols are used by almost everyone
ReplyDeleteMost of the time when i go online i usually use emoticons to express what i feel in a certain scenario that i have just read. It also applies to me when i text message you can obviously see i have =) (smiling face) when i feel so happy or when my day is going great, =( a sad face when i am disappointed, upset, sad and the like emotions that a have for that moment.
Emoticon`s add emotion to emails, and digital works. They help decipher the feeling of an email or a instant message. This is key because it is hard to portray a certain tone digitally. When you say words differently, they can form a different meaning but you cannot write words differently. The english language is a tricky one to learn because of the vast differences between tone and meaning of a word. The one thing that scares me about emoticon`s and further advances in communication is that people will eventually forget how to communicate traditionally. Professor`s have already begun to notice the shift in traditionaly literacy and digital literacy. The only way we can prevent technology from completely comprimising our traditional ways of communicating such as formal letters and invitations is to have class like Business Communications. Where the goal is to integrate the advancments in technology into students day-to-day communications, but at the same time keeping the traditional format of letter writing alive.
